Bentonite as the main raw material, through the ion exchange of modified organic bentonite, it can be widely used in water-based system of paint coatings and solvent-based system of paint coatings, it is used as a kind of anti-sinking agent in water-based acrylic coatings.

In waterborne acrylic paints, the main functions of organobentonite are anti-sinking, thixotropic and thickening. That is to say, in a long time in the storage of paints and coatings, because of the addition of organic bentonite so that it is not easy to appear pigment delamination, which is the so-called anti-settling properties.

In the water-based acrylic paint by adding organic bentonite, its thickening effect is more obvious, after adding organic bentonite, can make the paint in the construction of paint with better adhesion, not easy to appear hanging phenomenon, this is the organic bentonite hanging resistance.

Thixotropy is that organic bentonite can better control the flow phenomenon of paint coatings, so that it is at rest when the viscosity will increase, and under the action of the shear force, the viscosity of the paint coatings will be reduced, this process makes the paint coatings in the construction of better operation.

In addition to its thixotropic and rheological properties, waterborne organobentonite is also chemically stable, as it is compatible with other raw materials and ensures the overall performance of the entire coating in paint coatings.

The suspension properties of organobentonite make it in the paint to improve the stability of the paint suspension, to prevent the pigment and filler settlement, to ensure the uniformity of the pigment in the paint coating in the storage process.

Application

                     CP-120 is used in the following applications:

Using

CP-120 When it is used in grease, suitable polar activators are acetone, 95% ethanole, 95% methanol, dipropyl carbonate. Procedures are suggested as below：

1.Heat the solvent to 60～70℃。

2. Add CP-EDS (7%-10% in weight of total formulation) under agitation.
3. Add polar activator (3% of in weight of total formulation) and other additives, mix at high speed for 25-30 minutes.
4. Pump it to pass through gel grinder or homogenizer.
5. Air driving, filtering, and packing.

In other application, no need to heat the solvent, but pre-gel procedure is necessary. 

Commonly addition level is 0.2%-2%.
