Organoclay is a drilling fluid rheology. As a petroleum additives, drilling rheology modifier could use for fracturating fluids and Oil Based Mud.Fluid rheology additive is very stable at temperatures approaching 176ºC.

    Rheology Modifier CP-992 Advantages:

  •  Impart viscosity and suspension properties to oil-based drilling fluids.
  • Used to gel oil drilling fluids for long-term suspension of weighting agents in drilling and packer fluids.
  • Stable at temperatures approaching 176ºC
  •  Aids in filtration control
  • Usually preferred in mineral oil based fluids. Should not be used in high performance clay-free oil based drilling fluids.

Rheology modifier thickener CP-250A is a kind of purified rheological additive, modified organoclay designed especially for using in automotive and industrial lubricating greases based on synthetic oils such as vegetable oil, polyester oil. Organophilic bentonite has high gelling efficiency, fine thixotropy and perfect anti-settling.

3,  Application

Rheology modifier thickener CP-250A is used in the following applications:

  • Grease Lubricant (the base oil is synthetic oil such as middle-high viscosity petroleum, mineral oil, diester oil, polyester oil, vegetable oil etc.)
  • Wood coating

4,  Using

When it is used in Grease Lubricant, polar activator is needed. Polar activator is acetone/water(95/5). The dosage of activator is 20%-30% of the weight of Rheology modifier thickener  CP-250A. And also high shear can promote the dispersing of CP-250A.

Adding procedure as follows:

  • If condition permits, heat the base oil to 60~70℃
  • Add CP-250A while stirring, addition level is 7%-10% of the total formulation. Stir 5~10minutes
  • Add polar activator, addition level is 2%-3% of the total formulation. Then add other additives, stir 25~30minutes.
  • Use pump to help it pass colloid grinding and homogenizer.
  • Deair, filtrate, pack.

5, Note:

With High-speed dispersant of grinding machine, and properly prolong the dispersing time, better gelatin performance can be reached.

The Lubricanting grease which uses organoclay as thickener will own high dropping point, thus can be used under high temperature and presents good impermeability and water resistance.

7, Package

Outside the package of kraft paper bag, the inner packing uses the double layer packing of the polyethylene film bag, or the paper bag packing, the weight is usually 25 + 0.25kg,  or 22.68kg/bag or customized

Using

Drilling Additive Organophilic Clay CP-E23 can be added directly in powder under high shear condition. The addition is recommended to be before grinding procedure to get the best effectiveness. Addition level is commonly 0.2%~1.0%. In low polarity system such as mineral spirit, if polar activator is added, better efficiency can be achieved.

Dosage of polar activator is suggested to be 10%-20% of CP-E23 by weigh
