Grease additive modified clay CP-250A is a kind of purified and modified rheology modifier,organoclay rheological additive designed especially for using in Grease based on synthetic oils such as vegetable oil, polyester oil. Organophilic clay has high gelling efficiency, fine thixotropy and perfect anti-settling.

Application

Grease additive modified clay CP-250A is used in the following applications:

  • Grease Lubricant(the base oil is synthetic oil such as middle-high viscosity petroleum, mineral oil, diester oil, polyester oil, vegetable oil etc.)
  • Wood coating 

Using

When it is used in Grease Lubricant, polar activator is needed. Polar activator is acetone/water(95/5). The dosage of activator is 20%-30% of the weight of CP-250A. And also high shear can promote the dispersing of CP-250A.

Adding procedure as follows:

  1. If condition permits, heat the base oil to 60~70℃
  2. Add CP-250A while stirring, addition level is 7%-10% of the total formulation. Stir  5~10minutes
  3. Add polar activator, addition level is 2%-3% of the total formulation. Then add other additives, stir 25~30m
  4. Use pump to help it pass colloid grinding and homogenizer.
  5. Deair, filtrate, pack.

Note: With High-speed dispersant of grinding machine, and properly prolong the dispersing time, better gelatin performance can be reached.

The Lubricanting grease which uses organoclay as thickener will own high dropping point, thus can be used under high temperature and presents good impermeability and water resistance.

Using

Drilling Additive Organophilic Clay CP-E23 can be added directly in powder under high shear condition. The addition is recommended to be before grinding procedure to get the best effectiveness. Addition level is commonly 0.2%~1.0%. In low polarity system such as mineral spirit, if polar activator is added, better efficiency can be achieved.

Dosage of polar activator is suggested to be 10%-20% of CP-E23 by weigh

4, Using

Drilling mud additive rheological additive can be added directly in powder under high shear condition. Addition level is commonly 0.1%~1.0% of total formulation by weight. Polar activator is required to achieve better performance. The addition procedure is suggested as below.

  • Add resin in solvent.
  • Add Drilling mud additive rheological additive CP-138Y under slow agitation.
  • Disperse under high speed for 10-15 minutes.
  • Add polar activator.
  • Disperse under high speed for 10-15 minutes.
  • Add wetting agent and other additive.
  • Grinding and next procedure.

If to make pre-gel, better efficiency can be achieved. Addition level in pre-gel is 5%-8% of total pre-gel in weight. Pre-gel procedure is as below.

  • Add solvent or solvent mixture.
  • Add Drilling mud additive rheological additive CP-138Y under slow agitation.
  • Disperse under high speed for 5-10 minutes.
  • Add polar activator.
  • Disperse under high speed for 5-10 minutes.

Polar activator is suggested to be ethanol/water (95/5), methanol/water (95/5) or acetone. Dosage of polar activator is as below.
