4, Using

Drilling mud additive rheological additive can be added directly in powder under high shear condition. Addition level is commonly 0.1%~1.0% of total formulation by weight. Polar activator is required to achieve better performance. The addition procedure is suggested as below.

  • Add resin in solvent.
  • Add Drilling mud additive rheological additive CP-138Y under slow agitation.
  • Disperse under high speed for 10-15 minutes.
  • Add polar activator.
  • Disperse under high speed for 10-15 minutes.
  • Add wetting agent and other additive.
  • Grinding and next procedure.

If to make pre-gel, better efficiency can be achieved. Addition level in pre-gel is 5%-8% of total pre-gel in weight. Pre-gel procedure is as below.

  • Add solvent or solvent mixture.
  • Add Drilling mud additive rheological additive CP-138Y under slow agitation.
  • Disperse under high speed for 5-10 minutes.
  • Add polar activator.
  • Disperse under high speed for 5-10 minutes.

Polar activator is suggested to be ethanol/water (95/5), methanol/water (95/5) or acetone. Dosage of polar activator is as below.

OBM Rheology Modifiers CP-DRI is used in vertical drilling fluids to increase viscosity and filtration control. CP-DRI is also ideal in drilling fluids because it expands when exposed to water. This expansion helps down hole formations to be sealed from invading drilling fluids. The Drilling bentonite extracts the drill cuttings from around the drill bit, which are then floated to the surface. Bentonite also serves to cool and lubricate the drill bit as well as seals the drill hole against seepage and to prevent wall cave-ins. It is mainly use in fresh pure water rotary drilling conditions as water quality will affect bentonite performance.

Application:

CP-DRI can also be used as a seal for earthen structures, slurry trenching, tunnel boring and foundation drill.

Mixing and dosage:

Mixing ratios are based on the use of freshwater; water purity will affect bentonite performance. For best results, acidic and hard make-up water should be pretreated with SODA ASH to a pH of 8.5-9.5. Add PREMIUM GEL slowly through jet/hopper mixer.The quantity of bentonite used is variable depending upon the depth of the hole to be drilled. Generally one tonne of bentonite is used to prepare about 100 barrels of mud.

Packing:

25kg/bag; or 50kg/bag, packed by 800kg or 1000kg super sacks.

Rheology modifiers CP-24  is a new style of organoclay rheological additive made from bentonite. Organoclay is used in solvent and resin systems covering medium polarity to high polarity range. Rheological additives is adapted for aromatic solvent, ester, ketone, alcohol and resins in medium and high polarity such as two-component polyurethane, fluorocarbon coating, epoxy coating, zinc-rich coating etc.

Rheology modifiers, which are divided into volumetric bentonite and water-based bentonite, which is what we often call inorganic water-based agent, it is a montmorillonite clay after strict purification and modification, it is a highly efficient Water-based inorganic gel and solvent-based gel, it is widely used in solvent-based systems and water-based systems to thicken suspension and control rheology.

This is a white or off-white powder. It is non-toxic and tasteless, relatively soft, and its mutation is particularly prominent. It has a relatively wide range of pH values. It is widely used in some different types of paints. At the same time, it is also widely used in some cosmetic lubricants. At present, the largest application field is in oil field drilling.

If you want to write specifically, it is mainly used as an anti-settling agent, latex stabilizer and rheological additive in water-based systems, and will be used in latex paint, real stone paint and some other types of crystals.

At present, our main packaging form is kraft paper bag or polyethylene woven bag. At the same time, we also use valve bag packaging and 50 packs. The following table is the parameters of our products for your reference, but here we would like to point out that in the bentonite of the water-based system, its bulk density is generally 0.6~0.8 grams per cubic meter.In the end, please use your experimental results as the standard.

  1. Add resin in solvent.
  2. Add CP-24 under slow agitation.
  3. Disperse under high speed for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Add polar activator (95% ethanol or 95% acetone)
  5. Disperse under high speed for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Add wetting agent and other additive.
  7. Grinding and next procedure.

Note: The suggested addition level of our organoclay and polar activator is based on our lab testing. Exact dosage for detail formulation should be based on user’s testing.
