Organic clay, usually referring to organic bentonite, is a product whose raw material comes from natural montmorillonite. Through special production processes, it is made suitable for use in industries such as agriculture, environmental protection, and construction. From over 20 years of production and sales experience, we have summarized the production process of organic bentonite into key steps: raw material preparation, pretreatment, mixing, filtration, drying, inspection, and packaging.
When selecting raw materials, we typically choose montmorillonite with high purity to ensure the quality of the organic bentonite. This high-quality montmorillonite enhances the chemical stability of the organic bentonite. Additionally, we prepare some organic modifiers, such as quaternary ammonium salts.
In the pretreatment step, our primary goal is to remove impurities and some quartz sand to increase the purity of the raw material. After this step, we generally add some quaternary ammonium salts to facilitate modification, a step often referred to as modification or mixing. Adding organic modifiers allows for an ion exchange reaction with the cations on the surface of the clay particles, improving the dispersibility of the organic clay.
During the grinding and mixing stage, we mainly reduce the particle size. After grinding, we mix the modified organic bentonite to ensure it disperses uniformly on the surface of the clay particles.
In the drying stage, we focus on reducing moisture content. We typically require the moisture content to be less than or equal to 3.5%. We use special treatment methods to remove moisture, achieving the moisture content needed for subsequent processing and use.
In the quality inspection step, we test its appearance, moisture content, particle size, pH value, and loss on ignition. After inspection, qualified products are packaged.
During packaging and storage, our equipment uses computer control to ensure precise weight control, so the weight of each package is very consistent.
Our production process is divided into dry and wet methods. The entire production is strictly controlled to ensure product safety, effectiveness, and environmental protection. The specific production process of organic bentonite may vary depending on the raw materials and intended uses.
CP-992 Organophilic Clay is a wet process improved viscosifier and gelling agent. It is an easy dispersing, rapid yielding organoclay that exhibits high performance efficiency in diesel oil, crude oil, Low BTEX base oil, mineral oil and synthetic containing base fluid formulation. It is stable and has good suspension and thixotropic features. It can also be used in adhesives and sealant.
