Using

Solvent based obm Organoclay CP-EDS When it is used in grease, suitable polar activators are acetone, 95% ethanole, 95% methanol, dipropyl carbonate. Procedures are suggested as below

1.Heat the solvent to 6070

2. Add CP-EDS (7%-10% in weight of total formulation) under agitation.

3. Add polar activator (3% of in weight of total formulation) and other additives, mix at high speed for 25-30 minutes.

4. Pump it to pass through gel grinder or homogenizer.

5. Air driving, filtering, and packing.

In other application, no need to heat the solvent, but pre-gel procedure is necessary.   

Commonly addition level is 0.2%-2%.

Organoclay Bentonite CP-180B is an organo clay (modified montmorillonite), designed especially for use in solvent based system including intermediate and low polarity polarity range organic liquid. Organoclay is an improved grade of CP-180. Organoclay rheological additive is more fine, and easier to be dispersed compared with Solvent based Organoclay CP-180.

Using

Organo bentonite CP-180B disperses under high shear and requires a polar activator (30%~40%)  for best efficiency. Heat is not required to obtain good dispersion. Addition levels are typically in 0.2%~2.0%. Polar activator (95% Ethanol or 95% Methanol) is needed. Normally addition level of polar activator is recommended to be 30%~40% of Rheology organoclay CP-180B in weight.
