OBM Organophilic Clay

The main function of using organic bentonite in drilling fluid is to use bentonite as a suspension agent in the preparation of drilling mud. Its main function is to protect well wall, cool drill bits, and bring rock cuttings out of the well.

Our OBM Organophilic Clay is mainly used in oil-based mud systems, and for this water-based system, you will not be suitable to use our organo bentonite.

 After using organic bentonite mud, it can be used as a thickener or latex stabilizer in some drilling wells, such as deep or ultra deep wells or offshore drilling. Because these have good rheological properties and portability, it can also lubricate the drill bit to prevent corrosion, and is also a good choice.

This type of drilling mud, which uses organo clay bentonite, can be used as a latex stabilizer or as a thickener in mud fluids. It can be used to prepare excellent oil in cement slurry and high-temperature resistant anti sticking agent, greatly improving drilling efficiency and reducing accidents during drilling.

We will recommend different models of OBM Organophilic Clay based on your different base oils. Due to the lipophilicity of our product, it is very suitable for use in diesel systems, mineral oil systems, and synthetic oil systems, all of which require the use of our organic bentonite.

OBM Organophilic Clay CP-160 mainly use for synthetic oil,linear and isomerized Alpha Olefins,modified vegetable oil, all oil based drilling fluids ,Invert emulsion fluids,workover fluids,fracture fluids.

OBM Organophilic Clay is an easy dispersing, self activating organoclay that exhibits high performance efficiency in diesel, low aromatic mineral oil, modified vegetable oil and synthetic base fluid formulation.

CP-160 unique rheological structure suspends weighting materials and other solids with less increase in viscosity and gel strength than conventional bentonite. It is highly effective in distillate and mineral oil based invert fluids.

Organoclay | Zhejiang Camp-Shinning CP-120 is a kind of organo clay rheological additive. Organoclay Rheology modifier is used in systems of medium polarity and high polarity system.

Rheology modifier CP-120 is suitable for Aromatic solvent system and no-solvent inks, sealant and adhesive.

Using

Rheology modifier CP-120 When it is used in grease, suitable polar activators are acetone, 95% ethanole, 95% methanol, dipropyl carbonate. Procedures are suggested as below:

1.Heat the solvent to 6070

  1. Add CP-EDS (7%-10% in weight of total formulation) under agitation.
  2. Add polar activator (3% of in weight of total formulation) and other additives, mix at high speed for 25-30 minutes.
  3. Pump it to pass through gel grinder or homogenizer.
  4. Air driving, filtering, and packing.

In other application, no need to heat the solvent, but pre-gel procedure is necessary. 

Commonly addition level is 0.2%-2%.

Using

Dispersible Hectorite Clay CP-908 disperses under high shear and requires a polar activator (30%~40%)  for best efficiency. Heat is not required to obtain good dispersion. Addition levels are typically in 0.2%~2.0%. Polar activator (95% Ethanol or 95% Methanol) is needed. Normally addition level of polar activator is recommended to be 30%~40% of rheology modifier CP-908 in weight.
