Organoclay can be added directly in powder without polar activator and making pre-gel. But better performance may achieve if polar activator is added and pre-gel procedure is affected.

The addition is recommended to be before grinding procedure to get the best effectiveness. Addition level is commonly 0.2%~1.0%.

 Recommended use of organobentonites.

Slowly add 2-15 pounds of organo bentonite through the hopper.We recommend adding a small amount of water to reduce the yield time. At the same time, adding a certain amount of water can also play an effective role in dispersion.

Firstly, recommended Level of Camp Shinning organo bentonite are typically 0.2% to 2.0% of the weight of the system.

When organo bentonite is used in formulation, polar activator is needed. Polar activator is acetone/water(95/5). The dosage of activator is 20%-30% of the weight of Camp Shinning organoclay. And also high shear can promote the dispersing of organo bentonite.

Adding procedure as follows:

If condition permits, heat the base oil to 60~70℃

Add organo bentonite while stirring, addition level is 7%-10% of the total formulation. Stir  5~10minutes

Add polar activator, addition level is 2%-3% of the total formulation. Then add other additives, stir 25~30minutes.

Use pump to help it pass colloid grinding and homogenizer. Deair, filtrate, pack.

Note: With High-speed dispersant of grinding machine, and properly prolong the dispersing time, better gelatin performance can be reached.

The formulation which uses organo bentonite as thickener will own high dropping point, thus can be used under high temperature and presents good impermeability and water resistance.
